Install the software, then plug it in. Never had any issues with it. Works exactly as described. Plug in other USB devices, and they all just magically work wirelessly.
No more cables, the ugly printer is out of sight, and I am happy. Now that everything is set up correctly, I found this to be a very helpful little device. This isn't too much of a hassle, just a minor annoyance. No fuss, I just plugged it all in and everything worked. I think this happens because my external peripherals go into "sleep" mode and thus are not automatically recognized when i come out of standby, and so have to press "connect" in the network hub device manager. Obviously that is a major hassle and I eventually learned how to change the settings of the printer and scanner so that they do not automatically turn off.
A little bit of a waste of energy, but was the only workaround I found. I have a printer, scanner, and even an external hard drive attached. My one complaint is that everytime I come out of standby, my devices do not automatically reconnect. If anyone knows a way to fix this please let me know.Another issue that came up at first (not at the fault of this product) is that many of my peripherals such as my printer automatically shut off after some time of not being in use. Just for the record, they are a bit slower when connected through the router. It really does work straight out of the box.
No surprise. This is a pain in the neck because I would have to go manually unplug it just to wake it up.
When I upgraded to Windows 7 two months ago this USB hub stopped working. I will have to buy another brand because I don't want to have my hardware obsoleted with operating system changes. I have been using this hub with no problems connecting to windows XP and Windows Vista 32 and 64 bit. Belkin does not have a Win 7 driver now two months later, and no sign of when they will have one.
windows and mac environmentsnow leopard and win xpflaky performance - sometimes all the devices show and sometimes harddrives are not there.I would get a router with nas for storage next time.
it is good for printers and photos. Very good product, super fast shipping, ease of use.The only negative point is the transfer rate. but I was using for huge data transfers of more than 60 GB and it is slow on these transfers.
